All Black Contact Lens
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
An all black contact lens can give you the look of the undead, add a goth twist to your everyday clothing, or add shock value to your club attire. You can get black lenses that are shaped like regular contact lenses or purchase sclera lenses in black.
About All Black Contact Lenses
Sometimes you just want something different. Sometimes you need something different for a Halloween costume or other type of event. In other cases, you may just feel like adding a spooky edge to your regular attire, whether you normally choose to embrace the goth style or not.
No matter what your reason, you can always find an all black contact lens. As with most things online, you won't find yourself limited to certain times during the year when you want to shop for black lenses. You will need a prescription from your eye care provider to order, even if you do not need corrective power in your lenses.
The Available Types
There are a few types of black contact lenses. You can choose from:
- Sclera lenses: These cover not just the iris and pupil, but the whites of your eyes as well. These are perfect if you want it to look as if there are holes where your eyes should be.
- Dolly lenses: These mainly cover your pupil and iris, but are designed to give you a bigger "doll-eyed" appearance.
- Regular colored lenses: These cover the pupil and iris, giving you a blacked-out stare. If you are familiar with clear or tinted contact lenses designed for everyday wear, these are similar in coverage but are an opaque black.
Get Yours
You can purchase custom made all black contact lenses or you can just buy them pre-made whether you need a prescription or not. Some prescriptions may require a custom order depending upon your eyesight and the company from which you choose to order. Keep in mind that prices will vary depending upon your prescription, the company you order from, and whether your order is custom or not. Please note that it can sometimes take up to two months to get handmade, custom contact lenses and plan accordingly. For most prescriptions, special orders will not be necessary so the shipping time will be fast and the price relatively low.
Prior to ordering, be sure you know exactly what you want and need and that the product you are ordering is exactly the black lens you're hoping for. You may want to speak with your eye care provider about the water content and material of a specific lens before placing your order, especially if you have dry eyes or often experience discomfort when wearing contact lenses. In some cases, you will not be able to get a refund or an exchange.
Color VUE Lens has the black dolly lenses that will make your eyes look wide open. Vision Direct has both the Black Out version and the sclera version of black contact lenses. Coastal Contacts and Sanders Contacts have Black Out lenses, too.
Caring for Your Black Lenses
Caring for your black lenses is not much different from caring for your regular contact lenses. You will need to soak them overnight in an all-purpose solution. Do not sleep in them. Always wash your hands before taking the lenses out or putting them in to cut down on the risk for eye infection. Be sure to check with the manufacturer for more information about when to dispose of your contacts.
You can check with your eye care professional for additional lens care advice. If you experience any unexplained discomfort while wearing your lenses or after their removal, seek the help of an eye care professional.
Wearing black contact lenses can be fun! Just be sure to do your research ahead of time so that when your lenses arrive, you can wear them comfortably.
