Electric Sunglasses
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
Electric sunglasses just may be the hottest, hippest, coolest shades on the market. To say that Electric shades have reached cult status might be an exaggeration, but not by much. Made in Italy of the highest-quality components, Electric sunglasses are worn by some of the most popular figures in the world of action sports.
Characteristics of Electric Sunglasses
Electric sunglasses boast polycarbonate lenses mounted in mold-injected grylamide frames, so that they are the strongest and lightest sports sunglasses on the market. The lenses are available in a wide variety of colors. They block 100 percent of UV rays, including UVA, UVB, and UVC. Most styles are 8-base grylamide with 8-base polycarbonate lenses and three-barrel stainless steel optical hinges. All feature the Electric Visual logo, which looks like a lightning bolt within a set of parentheses.
What's Available
Electric markets fifteen different styles of sunglasses and three styles of goggles.
- Goggles: there are two styles of the basic goggles, EG-5 and EG-1. Both feature a lightweight, contoured frame with single-strap adjustment. The EG-5 has a slightly more square, slightly narrower outline than the EG-1.
- MX-Goggles: Based on the silhouette of the EG-1 basic goggles, the MX line features silicone straps and tear-off posts.
- Sunglasses: the fifteen styles include BSG, Crossover, Digit, EC-DC, Gain, Generator, Hi-Fi, Livewire, Maxwell, Ohm, Overdrive, Technician, Treble, Vol., and Wolfpak. Each style features the UV protection; 13 styles are available with polarization, and 4 styles are available with glass polarization. Two styles, Livewire and Ohm, are available with wire frames instead of grylamide. While most styles are more masculine and boxy, Wolfpak, Digit, and Hi-Fi have a narrower, rounder silhouette.
Which Are Polarized?
The thirteen polarized styles are:
- BSG: also in glass-polarized
- Crossover
- Digit
- E-DC: also in glass-polarized
- Gain
- Generator
- Hi-Fi: also in glass-polarized
- Maxwell
- Ohm
- Technician: also in glass-polarized
- Treble
- Vol.
- Wolfpak
What Sports Do They Figure in?
The Electric Visual website features a gallery of international figures who sport Electric styles in five different sports: surfing, snow boarding, skiing, skating, and motor-sports. Among the many figures spotted on the site:
- Cheryl Maas
- Andy Mahre
- Pierre-Luc Gagnon
- Kyle Busch
- Jolene van Vugt
For many ardent sports fans, the imitation of wearing the same brand of shades may be the ultimate form of flattery.
What a Website!
Supremely cutting-edge, the site features a serious rock track that plays throughout your visit. (It can be turned off, and you can choose from eight different tracks to amuse your ears while you browse.) In addition to the products gallery --which can be searched by style name, SKU, type of frame, and type of polarization (regular or glass) -- there is a huge photo gallery with pictures of celebs in Electrics, as well as the Electric Alien -- the company's mascot. There is also the "Team Gallery," which shows the international sports figures who have "gone Electric." There are news stories and a dealer locater. You can even sign up for The Word, a newsletter for Electric lovers.
