Fake Colored Contact Lens

From LoveToKnow Sunglasses

Whether you want to try a completely different look, or just want to spruce up a current one, a fake colored contact lens may be the way to go!

Want to Shake Things Up?

A pair of colored contact lenses is a great way to shake up your everyday look, but keep in mind that "fake" is a relative term. While it's true that all contact lenses are, to some degree, fake, some can look more artificial than others.

In this sense then, it's helpful to look at all of the available fake colored contact lenses; this can run the gamut from the theatrical to the sublime. Some of the shades that offer a more a natural look include brilliant blues, greens, violets and grays, while the more theatrical styles may have names like Vampire, Zebra and Blackout. Depending on the look you are trying to achieve, several of these different colors may match your preference.

Factors of the Fake Colored Contact Lens

No matter what shade of colored contact lens you choose, there are still a whole host of factors you'll need to consider, including:

  • Price: While it's true that the price of contacts vary, you can expect to pay something in the neighborhood of $220.00 a year for these contacts. Depending on your budget, this may or may not be an issue. However, if you are under eighteen, the odds are very good that you’ll probably need to discuss this issue, and price, with your parent(s).
  • Prescription Needed: Many people are hopeful that they can just walk up to their local drugstore counter and purchase a fake colored contact lens, but this is simply not the case. You will need to get a doctor's prescription for these contacts. This is true even if you have perfect eyesight and don't need corrective eyewear.

On a more positive note, advances in the world of ophthalmology have been so great that now, even those who have never worn eyeglasses can now wear contacts. This is great because it means that no one has to miss out on the eye-changing color fun!

  • Caring for the Lenses: If you've never had or worn contact lenses before, note that you will have to care for them. This usually means soaking them in a solution, and taking care to make sure hands are clean when putting them in or taking them out. For those who are used to this process, this is not a big deal, but for those who aren't, this can be a little time consuming and added responsibility.

Where to Shop

Luckily, there are a bevy of online sites one can visit when looking for the perfect pair of contact lenses. Some worth exploring include:

Fresh Look

Fresh Look offers shades that are similar to those found in the natural color spectrum, but here the contacts have an added intensity.

Some of the latest colors available on this site include Sterling Grey, Brilliant Blue and Gemstone Green. One of the better features of Fresh Look is the ability to upload your own photograph to try on all the different looks (if you don't have a photo, you can still select a model that has similar coloring to yourself). Once you've selected your model, you'll have three options:

  • Create a natural beautiful look.
  • Enhance light eyes only.
  • Try on a bold look for dark eyes.

You may sometimes find that Fresh Look is also offering a Try a Free Pair offer, so this may be a great site to investigate.

Fashion Contact

Fashion Contact is pretty well—rounded because they not only offer some of the more wild and crazy contacts, but also more subdued shads like amethyst and blue.

The only drawback of this site is that you won't have the opportunity to try on the different looks. Additionally, the only pictures of their contacts are on very static images, so it's difficult to get a "real-time" feel for how the contacts might actually look on you.

Color Me Contacts

Color Me Contacts is also worth investigating because they've pulled together all of the different contact brands in one little neat place. You can also search by desired color, either by contact, or by your own natural eye color. There is also a section on special effect contacts that showcase various looks ranging from Angelic to Temptress.

Putting It All Together

When it comes to fake contact lenses there is much to consider. Not only do you need to decide on a color that will make you look great, but you'll need to visit the eye doctor. Additionally, once the correct prescription and brand have been found, you'll still need to shell out a couple of dollars for the contacts themselves. That said, however, contact lenses are so eye-catching that it may just be worth it!
