Fendi Sunglasses
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
Fendi is all about luxury, and Fendi sunglasses are no exception. Given away as part of the posh gift bags at the MTV Music Awards, and seen on some of the most alluring faces in the entertainment industry, the Fendi eyewear line is exclusive and enchanting.
Fendi History
The Fendi company was launched in 1925, and it encompasses multiple love stories. First, there was Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi, the founders of the line. Adele already had her leather and fur shop in Rome when she married Edoardo, and they changed the shop's name when they got married in 1925. Business was good, as is usual with those that focus on quality, and in 1932 the couple had to open a new store. The Fendis had five daughters, all of whom eventually joined the family business. It was after the hiring of Karl Lagerfeld in 1965 that the distinctive Fendi logo was born, and the company took off in international markets. Fendi now employs nearly 400 people in its 100 boutiques around the world. It also operates two "direct stores," one in Rome and one in New York.
In these early years, the company was all about furs and leathers. Bloomingdale's has the distinction of being the first American company to import Fendi's products, but soon other companies followed suit. In the many years since the first little Italian store opened, Fendi has added product line after product line. Furs, leather goods, ready-to-wear clothing, handbags, watches, and, yes, eyewear.
Fendi Sunglasses
In January 2005, Fendi announced that Marchon Eyewear would be the exclusive global manufacturer and distributor of its line of eyewear. Marchon had already been licensed by Fendi for 14 years, and its highly trained salespeople and its superior distribution systems made it only natural that one of the most exclusive designer labels would entrust its eyewear line to Marchon.Originally targeted to the ladies, Fendi sunwear recently introduced a distinctive line of men's sunglasses. Metals, plastics, and leathers are used to great effect in these frames, where the women's frames feature metals and plastics in bold designs with accents of rhinestones. All Fendi frames feature bold, innovative styling. It's just about impossible to mistake a Fendi.
Features
- Fendi lenses protect against both UVA and UVB.
- Fendi lenses are scratch-resistant, and all eyewear comes with a specially-designed protective case.
- Fendi's logo is incorporated into every design, sometimes boldly, sometimes subtly. For all Fendi eyewear, that logo is the symbol of authenticity.
- A wide variety of styles is available, from classic aviators and aviator-inspired frames to very chic wide-framed designs. There are also slender, extremely feminine styles, as well as more boxy, bold styles. Fendi has a style for nearly everyone.
Cost
One of the primary considerations when looking at Fendi sunwear is cost. You are not going to pick up an authentic pair of Fendis for $50 ... or even $100. Most styles cost $200 or more, with a couple of styles hitting the $800 mark. These sunglasses are priced to be exclusive -- which may be why so many celebrities sport them. Fendi sunglasses certainly speak of the ultimate in wealth and fashion-consciousness. Among the rich and famous people who sport Fendi sunwear on a regular basis is Beyonce Knowles, of Destiny's Child.
Where to Get Them
Most upscale eyewear boutiques will carry at least one or two of Fendi's styles. Nordstrom's features a few, as do some of the other high-end department stores. Online is your best bet, as you can comparison shop for your favourite frame style at the best price. Beware, though! If it seems to good to be true, it probably is, and a pair of Fendi sunglasses for less than $200 ought to make you cautious.
