Heart Shaped Glasses
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
Heart shaped glasses aren't for everyone, that's for sure. If you're in the middle school crowd or below or you're enjoying an appropriate holiday party, you can probably pull them off. If not, it's often best to leave them on the rack (or on the internet).
Get Your Heart Shaped Glasses
Believe it or not, there is a selection of heart shaped glasses out there. Here are a few:
- Fred Flare has red and pink sunglasses with heart shaped lenses. They're only $9.00, and for this style, they're as hip as you're going to get.
- You can also find the pink ones at Girl Props. It'll cost you about $9.99 plus shipping at this site to make your little one or yourself into a total diva.
- Great Lookz has a couple of different styles:
- Shades of Fun has heart shaped sunglasses in five colors. They're only two for $6.00 each, or one pair for $10.00. They're rimless, too, so they're trendier than your average pair.
- Urban Outfitters has a pair, which suggests that this shape of sunglasses may be more of a trend than it probably should be. Teens and twenty-somethings everywhere can be tempted by their top-heavy shape now. This pair is available in pink, crystal aqua, and black. The cost is $16.00. There's another pair, the Rhinestone Sweetheart Sunglasses, for $17.99.
- San Diego Kids' Party Rentals has 4-packs of pink and white shades for kids at parties.
- You can also check eBay for your new lenses. There's something there for everyone. The most prevalent color of the moment seems to be red. If red's not your thing, try one of the sites above for a different one.
Why Wear Them Anyway?
Sunglasses in this shape are definitely not the norm. They're probably not even everyday sunglasses for most people. Instead, people—kids and teens most frequently—wear them when they want to make a fashion statement.
What to Wear Them With
Pair your new sunglasses with:
- Subtle earrings…You don't need big rhinestone hoops to compete with the shape of these. Simple studs or small silver or gold hoops should be enough.
- A belt in a matching color. It's fun, it's a little frou-frou, and it's definitely an eye-catching look. Throw in a pair of matching pumps for good measure if you'd like.
- Blue jeans. Again, like with the earrings, who needs anything to compete with the glasses? They're front and center, so pairing them with something laidback like a pair of blue jeans and a simple shirt should do the trick. Don't worry, all eyes will still be on you!
- Since they're bright and funky, you could wear them with a dark sweater dress and tights. A 1980s look calls for glasses this vibrant. You'll be looking glam with the effort it takes to slip those glasses over your ears.
Who Can Wear Them
Since the focus is on the sunglasses anyway, the face shapes they most complement aren't as important. However, the heart shape, similar to that of aviator sunglasses, does look good on most face shapes.
- Oval faces, of course, look great in any shape.
- Heart shaped faces may look least attractive in heart shaped sunglasses due to the repetition of the shape, but even those will still look fine.
- Round faces will benefit from the tapered ends of the lenses. Since the lenses aren't round, too, they'll look great.
- Angular faces will benefit from the curved sides and top of the heart shape.
Heart shaped sunglasses are actually very flattering, they're just a bit too flashy for everyday and everybody. If you're feeling bold or just a little zany, pick some up and slap 'em on, then strut your stuff around town.
