Knockoff Oakley
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
Knockoff Oakleys let you enjoy the look of a famous sports sunglasses brand without paying the high price. However, you should take some time to decide if knockoffs are right for your lifestyle or if you should go ahead and purchase the genuine Oakleys at the higher price.
What Knockoff Oakleys Are
You may see knockoff Oakleys listed under different names:
- Replica Oakleys
- Oakley knockoffs
- Fake Oakleys
- Faux-kleys/Foakleys
There's a somewhat negative connotation to the "fake" styles because of the way they're often sold. However, overall, they are all knockoffs/replicas.
Knockoff Oakleys are sunglasses meant to resemble the genuine Oakleys. They are not sold as Oakleys, and the price is usually substantially lower. You won't, however, get Oakley's well-known quality or performance when you buy a knockoff. There is also usually no warranty at all attached to the knockoff versions of designer sunglasses.
The difference between knockoff Oakleys and "fake" Oakleys is all in the presentation. If a vendor attempts to sell you a pair of "Faux-kleys" or "Foakleys" in the place of genuine Oakleys, claiming that the sunglasses are, in fact, real Oakleys, then they are "fake." When the vendor tells you they're simply meant to look like the Oakleys (sometimes they will actually refer to them as fake Oakleys) you love but can't—or don't want to—pay the designer price for, they're simply knockoffs.
Make sure you know what you're buying whether you prefer knockoffs or the real thing, and if you do wish to purchase real Oakleys, do so from a site or store you trust. If you need the impact resistance and quality of a non-knockoff pair of Oakleys, you don't want to sacrifice your vision for a good deal from a less than reputable seller.
When to Choose Knockoff Sunglasses
Why might you want to choose knockoff Oakleys?
- You don't have the cash to shell out for the real thing but you love the look of these sporty sunglasses.
- You don't play high-impact sports or especially need the protection genuine Oakleys offer.
- The knockoff version offers 100 percent UV protection just as Oakleys do, and the main reasons you wear sunglasses are for the sun protection, tint and glare reduction—not protection while playing sports or because it is likely that flying debris will make it into your eye as in some career fields.
If you simply wear a pair of sunglasses for the looks and to block glare—as in driving or walking around town—knockoff Oakleys should be fine. However, if you play sports or you're in the military where there's a higher risk that you'll need the protection of the incredibly strong and tested polycarbonate lenses the real Oakleys have to offer, skip the knockoffs or keep them for your "off" days.
Where to Get Knockoffs
While you can get Oakleys from the Oakley website or any number of sunglasses retailers (both online and brick-and-mortar stores and optical shops), you may not know where to begin your search for the Oakley lookalikes you desperately hope to find. Here are a few sites to start with:
- Replica-Faux makes an attempt to keep up with the ever-changing styles the designers come up with year after year. They also try to make their knockoff Oakleys look as legitimate as possible. So not only do you have a current style, you have one that isn't too obviously a knockoff. They also don’t leave it to you to decide which pair of Oakleys one of their styles is supposed to mimic. The Oakley page is set up based on the actual Oakley designs, so if you're looking for a Splice knockoff, simply click on the Splice box for replicas.
- Sunglasses Box has knockoff Oakleys, too! You can get styles like the MonsterDog, Juliet, Racing Jacket, Half Jacket, and more. If you happen to want a replica Oakley watch to go with your new replica Oakleys, they have those there, as well. Pick them up at the same time to save on shipping costs.
