Maui Jim Kanaha Sun Glasses
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
Maui Jim Kanaha sun glasses are a unisex style designed for active individuals. They offer additional protection on the sides that other sunglasses often don't provide. This cuts down on the potential for irritated eyes as a result of sun, wind, and sand. Wear them on the beach and you probably won't be sorry. Named for the Kanaha surfing beach in Maui, these are perfect for enjoying the sand and surf.
Why Choose Maui Jim Kanaha Sun Glasses
Maui Jim Kanaha sun glasses look just right on both male and female faces. They're designed to be unisex and offer the comfort and protection those who love sports and the beach (and especially sports on the beach) need. By wearing a pair of these Maui Jim sunglasses, you get:
- A sporty look that fits right in on the beach and is meant for casual or sports wear
- Extra lens material for more thorough UV protection than many frames provide due to their shapes, plus protection against the wind and sand
- Comfort
- Unobstructed vision thanks to an almost rimless style
- Modern style
- 100 percent UV protection
- Polarized lenses for easing the annoyance of glare in bright sunlight
- Two-year warranty from the date of purchase
- Durability
- Relatively low price compared to similar styles from other name brands
- The impact resistance of polycarbonate lenses
Why Not?
There are a few negatives to the Maui Jim Kanahas. If you're looking for prescription sunglasses, these will not work for your needs. Similarly, you cannot buy one frame and use interchangeable lenses as you can with some sports sunglasses. If you wear contacts or have nearly perfect vision and you know you'll just want one lens color for now, the Kanahas are still a good choice.
Available Colors
There are three colors to choose from in the Maui Jim Kanaha style. They are as follows:
Glossy black frames with neutral gray lenses
Black frames with HCL® bronze lenses
Tortoise frames with HCL® bronze lenses
Choose the gray lenses if you want something that works well in almost all light conditions, especially bright light. These do the best job when it comes to light reduction and providing contrast. Choose the HCL® bronze lenses if you need your sunglasses to serve you well in low-light conditions, or if you'd just like a more subtle tint than the gray provides. The HCL® bronze lenses also provide great contrast.
Sizing
The lenses are intentionally fairly large on these, which is great for additional protection from the sun's harmful rays. The lens size is 62 mm. The bridge and temple sizes are fairly common at 15 mm and 130 mm, respectively.
This style is considered to be a medium fit sunglass, but as always, it's best to try them on before you buy. If trying them on first isn't an option, at least check the return policy if purchasing online. There's nothing worse than shelling out over $100.00 for a pair of sunglasses, only to find that they don't work with your face shape or size.
Warranty
As mentioned above, there is a two-year warranty on all Maui Jim sunglasses from the time of purchase. The warranty covers defective materials or workmanship but not normal wear and tear. The warranty will not cover scratches, accidental breakage, or the shipping costs.
The company is usually very quick to repair and return the sunglasses covered under warranty; they are usually repaired within five days and are on their way back to the owner.
There are a few things you'll need to send in with your sunglasses to take advantage of the warranty:
- A dated copy of your receipt
- $8.95 for shipping and handling, if in the United States. International rates vary.
- An explanation of why your sunglasses need to be repaired (how they broke, for example)
- Your contact information, to include name, address, and telephone number
Where to Buy
- Sunglasses Internationale has them for $159.00. They have all three colors available, as well.
- Backcountry also has all three color options available for $159.00.
- Eye Save has them at a discounted price, $139.00. All three colors are available.
