Solar Shield Clip On Sunglasses
From LoveToKnow Sunglasses
The beauty beind solar shield clip on sunglasses is that they work with a wide array of eyeglasses. That means that it's not necessary to purchase a separate pair of prescription sunglasses if you don't want to.
The Company
Why should you trust Solar Shield to keep your eyes happy? They claim to be the number one recommended brand by doctors when it comes to working hand in hand with your prescription eyewear. Add to that the fact that they've been in business for 27 years and you'll see that they're obviously doing something right!
What Solar Shield Clip On Sunglasses Are
Solar Shield clip ons are polarized clip on sunglasses that come in several shapes, colors, and sizes. You can even get mirrored finishes if that's what you prefer. Since they're designed to fit most modern sunglasses, there's something for just about everyone—no matter what their eyeglass style or their lens preference.
They're quick and convenient to use, so you won't find yourself frustrated, fiddling with your glasses when you're on the go. As always, UV protection is important and Solar Shield clip on sunglasses deliver. The polarization takes away the glare while the UV protection keeps your eyes safe.
They're everything you need to convert your eyeglasses to sunglasses in seconds—without sacrificing the clear vision your prescription offers or the health of your eyes.
These don't attach with magnets the way some do. They have actual metal clips around the edges that hook around your prescription frames so that they are held securely in place. There are four clips: two on the left and two on the right, and they're found at the outer corners of the lenses. To stay on, they "hug" your current frame.
Flip Ups
In addition to the more traditional clip on style, there is a flip up version of the Solar Shield sunglasses. You may find it with the Fits Over sunglasses from the same line, but they clip onto the bridge of your prescription eyewear and flip up when you don't need the additional tint.
These are convenient for the eyeglass wearer who:
- Doesn’t want to have to keep up with an extra pair of sunglasses
- Is afraid of misplacing or breaking a simple clip on
- Just likes the convenience of having their sunglasses right where they need them, when they need them.
With a simple flick of a finger, you'll have your tint when you need it outside and your clear lenses when you're inside or in the shade. There's no waiting involved.
So what you get from Solar Shield clip on sunglasses is a combination of:
- Polarized lenses to combat glare and make outdoor activities, such as driving, easier
- 100 percent UV protection (they meet ANSI Z80.3 - 2001 strictest UV blocking requirements)
- Scratch resistant lenses
- Wide selection of sizes, shapes, and colors for the best fit possible when your eyeglasses don't come with their own custom clip ons
Get Yours
You can't order directly from the Solar Shield website but you can visit it to find a list of dealers near you. Some of those dealers include:
- Walmart
- K-Mart
- Walgreens
- Rite Aid
These sunglasses are readily available at drugstores, so you don't necessarily have to special order them and wait. If you're on vacation or a business trip and you break your clip ons, you can easily go grab another pair for a low price. They generally cost between $15.00 and $20.00.
Another Option from Solar Shield
If clip ons aren't your thing or you just can't find the fit you're looking for, Solar Shield also offers a variety of Fits Over sunglasses which slide right on just like sunglasses. The difference is, they fit around your prescription eyewear. They can be worn alone if you wear contacts occasionally, unlike the clip-ons.

Sorry to hear that, Tim! I hope you guys come to a conclusion you're happy with.
-- Contributed by: CrystalSchwankeGot tired of carrying around two pairs of glasses so I went with a pair with photochromic tint feature. This just before a trip overseas. I wasn't happy as they didn't darken enough for me. I purchased a set of Solar Shields which fit the shape of my Chaps frames perfectly. After about 10 days, I noticed the S/S had scratched my new lenses extensively on the outside where their own riveted style hardware attached to the lenses but also on the face of my glasses lens right in the middle of my bi-focal lens area. Didn't take long to quit using Solar Shields and now have to replce my lenses, both sides. Model #51 recB. 'Be nice to see them step up and help me out since it was their product that caused the damage. -- Contributed by: Tim Caldwell
